Subject: Is That Your Knee?

Dear Hannah,

If there is ever a time to stand up for what you believe in, it is now. Our country and our way of life is facing a huge challenge. We have all been haunted by the senseless death of black people.

If you or I were one of those people, who stood by, not helping a dying man, his last words crying for his Mother’s help, would you have stopped this atrocity from happening by restraining the actions of one of your fellow Americans?

If your answer was “no, I wouldn’t interfere” then you are part of the problem.

Are we adding, by our inactivity as a people, just another evil knee on the neck of another American citizen?

We grieve for the victims and this violent activity must also be condemned.

Peaceful protest to bring the nation’s attention to this matter is a righteous, virtuous way to effect change. We have seen the incredible power of non-violence by leaders in the South in the 60’s, led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and so many others, so close to our hometown of LaGrange, GA. Violence makes the matter worse and clouds the message that we need to face, which is the issue of continued inequality.

Companies and individuals have for too long stood silent. And, our silence makes the matter worse.

This is a problem, this is a race and human rights issue and people need to come together. It includes those silent people and companies that have not taken a stand before and lift our combined voices to condemn this behavior for what it is.

We need to look introspectively at how we each must take a stand against racism and take a stand now. We stand in solidarity for those that are being treated differently than other citizens, solely because of their race, gender or religion and to lift our voices to be seen and counted, that this type of behavior by any organization, or by any citizen, cannot and will not stand.

At MGroup™, we have zero tolerance for unequal treatment in the workplace of any individual on the basis of race, creed, gender, religion or sexual orientation. We strive to mirror our local community by shaping our work family to include a blended diversity of various cultures. Due to recent tragic events that have affected local communities throughout the US, we are making our values known vocally and emphatically that as an organization and family of associates, will lift our voices together to fight human inequality.

Let’s make sure it is not our knee on the neck of another American.
