Good Afternoon, MGroup™ Team:
The recent hospitalization of the President & First Lady shed yet more light on the COVID pandemic and how it has effected individual lives, some in a most personal way with the loss of family and friends. The COVID pandemic does not discriminate, does not recognize wealth or poverty and strikes at every level of society. Another casualty of the pandemic is the effect it has had on small and large businesses. Fortunately, MGroup™ continues to do better than the economy as a whole. We have our dedicated team to thank for this.
It becomes more apparent to me as every new statistic is released that we, as a society, must do more to help solve this global concern. In order for not only MGroup™ but the hospitality industry to rebound, a return to a “normal” that allows people to feel safe flying, staying in a hotel room or resort, or going on a cruise has to be the primary focus.
For our world to return to some semblance of normal, several things have to happen:
- A vaccine is needed to combat COVID-19
- Protecting people and stopping the spread of the virus needs to be brought to market so people can feel safe again
- Better, quicker and safer ways to determine if a person has the COVID virus, or has had the COVID virus needs to be brought to the market
- Ways for people to travel and congregate need to be found
Many of you have heard some of the “bits & pieces” of my recent trip to Germany and some of the things that we have been working on since late July. Patti and I have been immersed in a business opportunity that we saw as a potential game changer, not just for the hospitality business but to society in general. Make no mistake, a return to normal business means a healthier MGroup™ and hospitality market, the place where we maintain our relevance and livelihood.
For the past two years, Patti and I have been contemplating retirement or at the very least, a lesser involvement in day-to-day MGroup™ activities. The pandemic caused a delay in that process, as we did not think it would be best to leave daily oversight in a very difficult environment. But, we believe the time is right. At the end of the year, Patti and I will step down from our positions as CFO and CEO, respectively, of MGroup™. We both will remain on the Board of MFLGH, Inc., the parent of MGroup™, and retain majority ownership of the company. We will be actively searching for replacements at the CFO and CEO position. While we have a number of qualified leaders to take the CEO position from inside the company, the CFO position will be filled from outside our current team.
We both will remain actively involved in MGroup™ but the opportunity to truly make a change on a global scale is something that we feel we must do. Our commitment to MGroup™ has not changed but our daily oversight will change. We will be very active in making sure that our new leaders will share our core values of insuring a secure working environment, of recognizing individual contributions, of respect for the individual and providing opportunities for continued growth. I promise that these values will not change.

German Disinfectant Giant, Solenal®, Announces Major Move to
Focus on US Hospitality and Cruise Line Business

In order to develop the North American market, we needed to make a total commitment to not only sales but production of the Solenal® brand in North America. Murray will turn over his role as President & CEO of MGroup™, one of the most specified brand standard products for interior furnishings, in December to focus full time on the development of Solenal americas® and has accepted the position to lead Solenal americas® for a salary of $1/year.
