Subject: Flattening the Curve on COVID-19 Cases – Lessons from China

Dear Hannah,

It is so heartening to see the emails coming from the hospitality industry – most sending words of encouragement to one another. Our hearts go out to the many in our industry who have been furloughed and long for better times ahead and, surely, those better times are coming.

MGroup™ has a unique window of seeing the situation from many points of the compass, as we produce in Eastern Europe, Southern Europe, China, Vietnam and most recently, Brazil. We are talking to all of our colleagues from those countries who are currently experiencing the worst of this virus to those that fear the worst tomorrow.

History is the best forecaster of the future . . .China is several months ahead of the rest of the world on dealing with this health crisis and what transpired there is a barometer of what we should expect in Europe and North America. . .if we continue to take strong measures.

Temperatures are checked daily to ensure that no one goes to work ill. Even those that exhibit no symptons can be sick. Checking temperatures catches the collegues with a fever.

We received this notification from our Gainwell furniture partner in Zhongshan, China, who also produces in Vietnam, on Saturday, the 28th of March. It provides us a viable roadmap of what strong action needs to be taken to mitigate the effects and spread of COVID-19.

Gainwell’s comments are below:

Hi David,

Everything is going well here, and it is not allowing any people from outside of Mainland China to fly in from today. It seems will not have any business traveling at the short time. Your team have to stay at home and take care yourself until the situation getting better. That is what we have done and it is really workable. Hope USA also will be going better soon.

Most of us, including me . . .are having issues with cabin fever and wanting to rush back onto an airplane and see a client, but that will not help the global situation and it will put lives at risk. While we all wish for the economy to open back up as soon as possible, it appears that the very best treatment for this disease is keeping out of close contact with others, washing our hands and if you exhibit symptons - even minor symptoms - self isolate.

There is hope coming from China as their lives are starting to take on some level of normalcy again, several months after the first awful headlines came out of Wuhan.

Here’s to hoping that we get on the other side of flattening the COVID-19 curve sooner rather than later!

We’ll get there quicker by following the guidelines of staying home, maintaining social distance, and washing our hands! Over the next two weeks, MGroup™ is fully prepared to maintain the best degree of service and contact as good sense allows via video conferencing. We have options on ALL of our products for production.

Stay Healthy!
